Our Project (GitHub)
Purpose
We are proposing the development of AI-generated album covers. In this project, we will utilize different open-source models and programs, one specifically being Stability AI. We will fine-tune the different parameters and applications of parameters used in this open-source package and other libraries we use to the parameters and goals of this project. In addition, one of the biggest parts of the process of this project is collecting and creating a database of images that we can use that will allow for a very diverse range of selection and cover art generation. Much of our time in this project will be focused on formatting data to tackle this challenge. We aim to build up the scope of data inputs in levels. We want to first start with the name of the artist as well as song titles and the album name. From here, we will choose to implement the song lyrics so that we increase the amount of data we can use to generate a better album cover. Finally, if we have time, the last stage of data collection will be the wave data of the music because this is a piece of data that is very unique to each song and can add a different level of personality to the art that gets generated. The bulk of the project will be collecting, streamlining, and converting the data into something that is easy to analyze and understand for our AI. We also take note of the fact that album covers are a personal piece to the album the artist creates and that an AI may not have the complete capability to take into account the human/personal trait of the album, but we will talk about this point in the final presentation and we will try to find a way to implement more of the artist’s personal traits into the generation of the album cover. For the final product, we aim to have either a website or an app where a user can easily enter their album title, song names and lyrics, and actual song. Using the data that the user enters into the app, we will run our AI model on the data provided and generate an album cover. In the final presentation, we will take albums already created by artists and compare our AI-generated album cover to the actual album cover for that album. We also hope to help Isaiah, a fellow priory student in using our AI to generate an album cover for the album he is making. This project addresses the aspect of lifelong learning and stewardship in the mission of Priory. This project will require a lot of research into how AI generated art works and how to apply the different libraries and open source tools to our project. We already have a pretty good foundation in Computer Science and AI/ML so we should be able to accomplish the research task of this project. In addition, we will be generating an album cover for a fellow Priory Student, Isaiah, as he is creating his own album cover and we aim to use our AI model to create one for him. Technical Details We intend to use an open-source programming platform such as Expo or React Native that will allow us to create a frontend UI for Android, iOS, and the web using the same lines of code. This frontend is necessary to ensure that our model hits our target audience. By the end of the semester, we expect to have an app published to the Apple App Store and a live website with the most basic, fundamental features (song title to image generation). Time permitting, we hope to polish our UI to make it as accessible and easy-to-use as possible, and we hope to implement more ambitious inputs to inform our image generation including lyrical content, artist, and song waveform content. |
